YASSER CASTELLANOS

He was born in 1974, in the current province of Granma, Cuba. He graduated in Art Education with a specialty in Plastic Arts in 1998. While studying, he began his artistic career with pastel drawings inspired by the emerging phenomenon of Cuban rap. He was part of Grupouno, a collective that organized rap festivals, and made paintings for the posters and scenography of their events between 1997 and 2000. He participated with the group OMNI in performances and graffiti in the Alamar neighborhood, as well as in their album of poetry "Alamar Express" in 2005. Since 2012, he worked as an illustrator in Havana Times magazine and other websites. During the years 2018 and 2021, he dedicated himself to political activism. In addition, he is an animalist, vegan and practices yoga meditation.
